Well, where did the time go? One minute I was facilitating a heavenly creative wellbeing retreat and the next minute, it's 4 years on and I have decided to give Pencil Me In my full attention. I am officially 'back in the room'! I left this little space of mine, (which I was so so proud to have established) whilst navigating the world of motherhood and juggling it with a career in the NHS. I was so mindful of the two little boys that I had brought into this world and dedicated every spare minute to their wellbeing, making sure they had the time to be creative, explore, learn independently and form safe attachments. I was constantly aware that this was my 'soul' purpose to make sure they had a healthy, early start to life as I was conscious of all the knowledge and awareness I have of child psychology.

Time with them was precious and is still ongoing, but the pressure has slightly slackened as they are both now at school. while I was working part time hours during their early years, I threw myself into so many challenges to develop as a mental health nurse. My ambition being to support children and families as best as I possibly could. I completed the Florence Nightingale Foundation Leadership Programme, I returned to uni and achieved a PG certificate in psychotherapy. I aimed to become a leader and support staff wellbeing, I challenged and worked hard to improve teams and services I worked within across two trusts in Staffordshire. I was a chairperson to a children's charity and volunteered at the local Scout group. Everything I did and still do entirely focuses on supporting people, particularly women and children.

Why now? Why this? Why have I decided to leave my permanent job and focus on Pencil Me In? Because I believe I can make a difference, I couldn't sustain putting my heart and soul into this 4 years ago and if you have attended one of our retreats, you will know that I take great pride in quality. But now I have less sticky finger stains on my trousers and less clinical demands from a role within the NHS, so now I can give my heart and soul to Pencil Me In again.

I have developed the aims and objectives for Pencil Me In:

  • I have expanded the business to become Pencil Me in Nursing Consultancy.

  • I would like to bring back the creative wellbeing retreats to support communities and businesses.

  • I will complete partnership and associate work with other organisations.

  • I will provide 1:1 wellbeing support to women and children.

  • I will provide consultations to businesses and offer staff clinical supervision.

  • For continuous professional development I will attend nursing/psychology conferences and events and would like to continue to enhance my skills for perinatal care. This will potentially be training in hypno-birthing and infant loss.

  • I will support healthcare services on a regional and national level - particularly through co-production and lived experience projects.

If you have any questions about Pencil Me In, I would be pleased to chat. Feel free to drop me an email at pencilmeinstaffs@gmail.com. It's so good to be back, I would love to hear from you... Have you attended a retreat before? Have you wondered where I have been?

I look forward to reconnecting and forming new relationships,

Aimee
